Born in Honolulu, he was the owner of Island Gutters of Hawaii, a former Hawaii County police officer, security guard at Pahoa District Park and employed at Transportation Security Administration. Steven Robert Rau, 68, of Orchidland Estates, died Sept. 8 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in New York, he was a retired greenhouse manager and member of Paddlers of Laka.
